At the crossroads

The hotel sits at an intersection: colonial San Miguel de Allende around it, contemporary boutique design within it, and an international soft-brand collection behind it. Designed by a leading Mexican architecture studio, the 44-room property opened in 2023 as the first internationally flagged hotel in the city's UNESCO World Heritage center.

For AXS Management, the mandate was not simply to operate rooms. It was to run a compact urban asset where every square meter of rooftop, courtyard, and dining space had to perform — for guests, for locals, and for the owner.

Built to earn

San Miguel's historic center had no rooftop pool before this property. AXS built one — and then built the operations around it. The rooftop terrace combines the city's only downtown pool with a full-service sun deck, bar program, and a destination rooftop restaurant.

Managing this space meant solving for multiple dayparts and audiences: hotel guests at breakfast, locals and travelers at lunch and dinner, weekend live music, private events. Revenue, staffing, and kitchen throughput were designed as one system — not a pool with a restaurant attached.

Operations as cuisine

The rooftop restaurant is a Mediterranean-Mexican concept built around open-flame grilling, family-style sharing plates, and a cocktail program rooted in Mexican ingredients — a reason for destination diners to book a table whether or not they are staying in the hotel.

That is the management discipline AXS applied: F&B not as hotel support, but as a standalone revenue line with its own P&L logic, brand identity, and operating calendar — integrated with pool service, room service, and the ground-floor courtyard restaurant below.

A rooftop restaurant is not an amenity here. It is the operating thesis.
